my family moment

Not because I was in good mood or I have so much money to spend, but I just felt like treating my family members to Starbucks. And in conclusion, almost all of the 'Ng' family went. Although the bill costed me a bomb (four tables kay) but I found it weird, cause I don't feel the 'pain' at all. That is good, it shows that my money is well-spent. My aunty suggested that we have this kind of gathering once a week, or once a month. I was like "Hah?! You serious ar?". I don't mind as long as I'm not the one paying. Hehe. But she was just kidding lah.

Then when I reached home, I received a message from my uncle. He said that he wanted to pay 50% of the total bill but I refused. So nice of him offering like that (but I'm extra nice since I refused him to pay half. Lolz!).

Pals, save your money from now on cause Starbucks is launching some merchandise for Chinese New Year, Valentine's, and Winter season. I've seen it, they're all very cute and nice! Great for collections.

it's finally over

It's over,
I'm glad that it's all over,
I don't need to see you anymore,
To be with you again,
I can remove you from my life, forever.

No,
I won't miss you,
No,
I don't hate you either,
But now it's time to say goodbye,
To this two-year relationship.

Sukhita on Sisters

Here's something for the PR girls. You guys rocked man (but of course, RAWK is the best, lolz!)! Sukhita was lucky to have you girls running their publicity in Malaysia.

Thanks to my wu liao-ness, i flipped through SISTERS magazine in store (actually waiting for someone to finish his job, then can go home) and then suddenly I saw someone very familiar. 'See see look look', ooi! Princess Swee Ling and Sunitha the Sukhita! So I took some pictures. Hehe!

Argh!

Just when I wanted to make a decision, somehow, someone influenced me again.

Even if I can go to Australia to do my degree, will I go? Last time definitely a yes but now, I give it a second thought.

appreciated

In Starbucks, we have these five small cards named Be Welcoming, Be Genuine, Be Knowledgeable, Be Considerate, and Be Involved. All are for partners, if you think that the particular partner is doing something right that falls into one of the five categories, s/he can write on the card and give it to him/her. Once s/he has all five cards, a certificate will be rewarded.

And I got one today =). Be Genuine (basically it's about giving good customer service). I'm happy and delighted to get it because it was given by the District Manager (my boss' boss). She came over today for a 'spot-check'. By the time she wanted to leave, she gave me that small tiny card.

Winter Solstice Festival

Today, as in December 22 2007, is a special day for the Chinese to celebrate Winter Solstice Festival. The day when Chinese will eat tang yuen (glutinuous rice balls). Anyway, I've Wikipedia-ed something about this festival:

"Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of Tangyuan (湯圓, Cantonese jyutping: tong1 jyun2; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinuous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinuous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Each family member receives at least one large Tang Yuan in addition to several small ones. The flour balls may be plain or stuffed. They are cooked in a sweet soup or savoury broth with both the ball and the soup/broth served in one bowl." -Wikepedia-

As this festival is so meaningful (for family to get together), of course, me, my dad and siblings will be going to visit my mum. I've made something for her too =)

2 down

My all-time favourite reality programme is back, Survivor. This is the 15th season if I'm not mistaken (thou i'm a big fan, but I lost count too. Lolz) and it's in China. Haih, everyone's eyeing on China now. I know Survivor is sometimes quite fake and it seems like it's scripted but I like it because I'm amazed by how people can think of all the games/challenges. And of course, see how the survivors putting on a fake smile with their GoldenGlobe-leveled acting skills.

Have just watched two episodes. I want to watch more but time doesn't allow me to do so. My eyes are half closing already. I only had a barely 4-hour sleep last night. Luckily tomorrow (today), my shift is at 3pm. Yay, it's a public holiday!

day off

Finally, I'm having my off day tomorrow. I can sleep till the sun shines on my butt (literally means sleep till late afternoon). Woo-hoo! Words can't describe my happiness of having a 13-hour sleep. It's been such a long time man. Let's see what time I wake up tomorrow. Lolz!

I just like being a cashier in store. So fun! Anyway, there was this customer from Taiwan (Taipei)came in today and ordered drinks. She came with her aunty. Luckily I know mandarin, so I conversed with them in Mandarin (cause they hardly understand English). They asked me if I were from Hong Kong cause I looked like one and they were surprised that Malaysia has Chinese people (Malaysian-born-Chinese). They were amazed that Malaysian-born-Chinese can speak so many languages. Come to think of it, it's quite amazing also. Most of us speak Malay, English, Mandarin, and Chinese dialects. How cool is that.

Then after that, I went to their table and talked abit loh (quite long actually, hehe). The girl asked if can take a picture with me. Of course I said yes. Hahaha! She's pretty ok. Her aunty then suggested us to take down each other's contact so can become friends. We exchanged our email addresses. Now me waiting for her to send me the picture *wink*.

It's our 9th!

Today, as on 17 December 2007, Starbucks Malaysia is celebrating its 9th anniversary! And on this memorable day, Starbucks is opening its 100th store as well. Besides making coffee and money, we do charity as well. Come to Starbucks and order any Christmas drinks (Mocha Praline Frap/Hot, Toffee Nut Frap/Latte), we'll be donating 90 cents of each drink to under privileged children. Let's pass the cheers~

so much to do

I worked 11 hours today (Saturday)! Went in at 1 pm, supposingly leaving at 9pm but one of the partner wasn't feeling well (I'll elaborate on the word 'partner' later, but at the mean time, don't think wrongly first), so the manager on duty asked me to extend. At first, I didn't want to but then i gave up lah knowing that I'm so kind, right? The partner really wasn't feeling well, so she went home earlier and seeing other partners were like in 'war', I decided to extend till 11pm. The situation was really like war. Even Friday night was Suria KLCC's late night shopping but tonight's queue was much longer! Till outside the store, two lines somemore. No kidding.

And as you expected lah, I extended till 12am (that explains why I worked 11 hours). Busy like hell. So many cups and mugs lining up. It was a hectic day, but it was fun also lah (depending who are you working with).

Oh yah, the word 'partner'. This is crucial, let me elaborate on this before i sign off. In Starbucks, we call each other as partner, not colleague, or friend. Sometimes when I told customers "Hold on Sir/Madame, let me ask my partner first then I'll get back to you", they'll give this big question mark emotion to me, thinking that partner is like long-term relationship kind of partner. Hell NO!

Look at the time now, it's 3.25 am already. Should be sleeping already le. Nights!

Unexpected calls

Time passed quite fast today. Maybe I was enjoying myself at work. Anyway, I got two really unexpected calls today. The first one was my "wife", no no. Not Safira, but Bernice. Lolz! Yeah, she called me all the way from Medan, Indonesia! I was surprised loh. Cause she didn't contact us since the day she went home to Medan. Don't worry 0506ians, she'll give us her mobile number once she has settle down on which number to use. Hehe! I kind of like forcing her to come back for the graduation and I think she will, most probably. Evil me.

Oh, the second call was this lady. Erm, Taylor's School of Communication's Programme Director, Ms. Josephine Tan. I am wondering who else she called besides Jet and I. She asked me what was I doing cause it was quite noisy. I said working la, in Starbucks. Then she talked like a big circle before touching the main point. What else? Taylor's degree lah. And as usual lor, I complained kao kao but in a good manner. I complained mostly on Taylor's 'stinginess'. Why they scrapped off the 15% discount. Why they don't offer scholarships? Why they don't have merit scholarships like KDU? (I purposely mentioned KDU le, to let her know Taylor's not the only option we have).

She said we'll get scholarship if our CGPA is 3.8 and above. Stingy gila babi lah Taylor's. Since I brought up the merit scholarship, she said she'll bring it up to the marketing/scholarship department. Cross our fingers my 0506ians. Oh ya, I kept on stressing that I'm so dissapointed with Taylor's. Muahahahahahah! But it's true le, I really am.

Unrelated to the title of this entry~

I was in KL Sentral the other day, heading to MidV to audit something. I am quite sad to say that most of the Malaysians are like jakuns lor. When the train arrived, even before the passengers inside the train came out, people outside were rushing in already. Can't they wait? There were teenagers also. Come on, you guys are educated people. It was a really, really shameful act.

Not forgetting those people that don't know how to stand on the left side when using escalator. It's common sense right? Sigh~

Anyway, I'm going to my sister office's Family Day tomorrow at Tower 2, KLCC. Got the chance to go up to the sky bridge. Once in a lifetime wey! Can't wait.

This is the 100th entry le! More to come, I think.

Anyway, I'm currently doing fine at Starbucks and in love with these two chinese songs by Fish Leong called C'est La Vie (This is Life) and 'Chong Bai' (Worship). You can watch the video here
. I need those who can read chinese tell me the meaning of both songs. Trust me, you'll be attracted to her powerful voice.

Recently, I met my long lost friend on msn. We use to be very close during Interact Club last time back in secondary school but suddenly drifted apart. Maybe because of the distance, she went to Melbourne Uni while I'm here in Malaysia. Can't wait to see her again. It's great to get back in touch with your old friends, isn't it?

Anyway, I should be sleeping right now. Opening shift tomorrow.

trade-offs

Again, why do we have to make so many choices in life?

This time, to go or to stay? Part of Hanz says to go and part of him says to stay.

is back!

One of my favourite reality show is back on the AXN tv screen. The Amazing Race Asia 2. And as usual, Malaysia sent two teams. One comprising of sisters (Vince Chong's sisters, but if you don't know who Vince Chong is, it doesn't matter cause dia bukannya popular pun), and another one, the dancing mamas. Honestly, I don't have faith in them at first but after watching the first episode. Whao! I was speechless. The sisters actually got the top spot and the dancing mamas were the third time. *thumbs up*. Way to go ladies...

Emm, very sleepy already le. I need to jump onto my bed now. Else, tomorrow can't wake up at 6am. Well, my shift is opening (7.30am) =(

the Royalty

This scenario happened just now at work (minutes before 12 am). There was this aunty (with the make-up, eew. a terrible one) with her friend (normal looking) came and sat down. Then...

Aunty
: Ah boy ar

Me
: (looked around)..aah, yes? What can I help you? [deep down in my heart, can't you say excuse me instead of ah boy?]

Aunty
: I want coffee please.

Me
: Sorry madame, this is a self-service cafe (smile).

Aunt
: Haiyo. We're the Princess you know, the Enchanted Princesses. [I bet they just watched Enchanted and being influenced by it, but hey aunty, wake up. This is reality]

Me
: Ohh, is it? (with a fake smile and walked away).

Come on lah aunty, look at yourself! Princess? Don't insult the Royalty ok! King Cyrus is here! Want to be princess? Ask the Queen Esther and Princess Swee Ling first. Muahahahahahahahahah!

wrong timing

Haih, was supposed to cut my hair today with a friend but I got to work at 6pm. And yeap, 2.40 am. That was the time I left Suria KLCC's parking. Crazy right. To make it worse, I need to return back to store tomorrow (later, to be exact) for a staff meeting at 10 am, till 12 pm. I am supposed to work at 5pm. Stupid lah! ARGH!

Nevermind, look forward to next Saturday.

I really hate the fact that I need to work during weekends. Really. And the odd working hours. I'm going in at 6 pm tomorrow (today), till 2 am. By the time settle everything, it'll be 3 am. Damn it!

Hmm, I still can't get Moral off my mind loh. "Cheng Han, facts are facts!". Yes yes I know I know. Fine!
